Understanding the Teva Pill: A Comprehensive Guide to Its Uses, Dosage, and Side Effects

In the same way that you can’t judge a book by its cover, you can’t judge a drug by the size and appearance of its pill form. One such pill, tiny, green, and inconspicuous, is stamped with the mark “Teva 833.” Produced by the U.S. arm of the Israeli company Teva Pharmaceuticals, Teva 833 is a generic form of the drug clonazepam. Clonazepam is also sold under the brand names Klonopin and Rivotril.

What Does Teva 833 Do?

When ingested into the human body, Teva 833 is an anticonvulsant, soporific, hypnotic, and muscle relaxant. It is used to treat conditions such as anxiety, seizures, OCD, as well as bipolar, panic, and movement disorders. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine. Commonly known as “benzos”, benzodiazepines are drugs that lower certain neurotransmission levels in various areas of the brain. Teva 833 has a half-life of 20 to 80 hours, making its effects longer-acting than comparable medicines such as Xanax and Valium.

Users who take clonazepam report feelings or relaxation, reduced anxiety, and swings between peacefulness and euphoria. These effects are influenced by the dosage, frequency of use, and individual tolerances.

Range of Possible Side Effects

The list of possible side effects from taking Clonazepam is long and somewhat alarming. Here is a short list of the most common side effects:  drowsiness, dizziness, seizures, confusion, dry mouth, and heart palpitations. If these effects seem intimidating, consider that they are less than one third of the possible side effects that have been reported. Note that heavy drinkers should avoid all benzodiazepines, as alcohol can increase these nervous system related side effects. The huge range of possible side effects is just one of the reasons why Teva 833 should never be taken for recreational purposes.

Potentially Dangerous Interactions

Clonazepam can interact with certain opiate medications, including codeine, methadone, morphine, and tramadol just to name a few. And by “interact,’ we mean life-threatening breathing problems, severe sedation, and coma. Patients taking clonazepam who experience unusual dizziness, lightheadedness, extreme sleepiness, or difficult breathing should seek medical attention immediately

Dangers of Abuse and Addiction

Because it is a benzodiazepine, the risks of abuse and addiction of Teva 833 cannot be overstated. Long term use leads to ever-increasing physical tolerance. Like other opiates, clonazepam generates powerful cravings on both the psychological and physical levels. Level of the drug in the bloodstream over 0.08 mcg/mL is considered toxic and can quickly lead to an overdose. Long term abuse of any benzo can absolutely wreck your memory, attention, and ability to make decisions.

Benzos are no laughing matter. If you have a prescription for Teva 833, it is important to take it exactly as directed by your doctor. You must be sensitive to the possibility of personal misuse, even if you are sure you have everything under control. If your are or someone you know is struggling with benzodiazepine addiction, it’s essential to get professional help as soon as possible.
